The base's origins begin with the establishment of Wilbur Wright Field on May 22 and McCook Field in November 1917, both established by the Department of the Air, US Signal Corps as World War I bases. McCook was used as a proving ground and for flight tests. Wright was used as an airfield (operated by Patterson Field in 1931); Fairfield General Aviation Supply Center; a military school and a temporary warehouse. McCook's operations moved to Wright Field when it closed in October 1927.

In 1995, talks on the Bosnian War were held at the base, resulting in the Dayton Agreement ending the war.

Wittmann Militaria Update - The Anti-Hitler Antiquities Debate After the People's Corner Vacation Home Tour A collection of anti-Hitler paintings haunts some on the annual Ballymore Cooks Tour, but was it out of proportion?

Thomas Wittmann is well aware of the dangers of dealing with Third Reich antiquities after years of avoiding people who misunderstood how he made his living.

Wittmann Militaria Update

Wittmann Militaria Update

But the latest round of criticism has left the lifelong Moorestonian scratching and shaking his head.

Hitlerjugend 1923 1933 München “und Ihr Habt Doch Gesiegt”

Wittmann house on Main Street by Curtis Hospital Auxiliary in Virtua, . By most accounts, Wittmann's home was a hit, with guests appreciating the Christmas decorations and the impressive collection of historical antiques on display.

Shortly after the trip, however, news came to Wittmann that someone passing through the house had disturbed a certain collection of items: three anti-Hitler figures in an antique in the hallway.

Wittmann said the pieces were manufactured in the United States during World War II. One has Hitler's face on the skunk body, another - with needles stuck in the Führer's back - acts as a cucumber, and the third has a Hitler likeness at the bottom of the ashtray. The items in question are on the top shelf of antiques, which includes decorative daggers from various European countries and other antiques, including some German war helmets.

Wittmann, who has been in the veterans business for 30 years, often deliberately overlooks what others might find offensive. There are no swastikas or obvious Nazi references anywhere on the first floor that all Cooks Tour guests see. Among the many other antiques prominently displayed throughout the house - paintings of historical figures, ceremonial pipes given to German soldiers in the early 20th century, war helmets - Hitler's satirical pieces are relatively inconspicuous.

A reader who emailed Moorestown anonymously described the content in Wittmann's home as "extremely offensive" and said the Cooks Tour was "disgraceful". However, when asked to comment on the recording, the reader declined.

Curtis Auxiliary said, in part, "We are deeply sorry for any member of our community being offended, and we want everyone to know that we certainly did not intend this."

"I didn't mind showing them," Wittmann said. “There is nothing wrong with the nature of historical works. It's just one thing… If you want to get excited about it, I don't think it's fair.”

Wittmann Militaria Update

Born at the end of World War II, Wittmann has learned to let go of criticism of his actions, but is still very sensitive to people's feelings about references to Nazism or Hitler.

Local Muna Museum Merges Military Presence With Past

He goes to great lengths to explain—in person and on his website—that his collection does not support or glorify the Nazi regime. Those who buy them from him are not radical rightists or neo-Nazis, but professionals - doctors, lawyers, teachers - who have been his customers for years.

"I'm not interested in people like that," Wittmann said grimly. "And they don't have any money to give. These things are expensive."

Wittmann buys most of the World War II items from the families of the fallen soldiers after discovering the items in their late grandfather's attic.

"When we were occupied by Germany at the end of World War II, our soldiers went out to look for weapons," he explained. “Our men stole everything that wasn't put on the ground. They 'liberated' him. People don't throw things away like that."

But they sell it for a tidy profit, this is where Wittmann comes in. Sure, he makes a living from it and gains: "These things only make sense in terms of value ... Really earned in the recession" - but he also sees his job as preserving history.

“For me, I don't think there is anything to look at but history, like a flag. It is a historical period,” he said. "If you like history, you can imagine everything that goes on around it."

Denis Mercier, a former professor of mass media and popular culture at Rowan University, can understand Wittmann's plight. Mercier drew a lot of heat upon himself when he began collecting politically inaccurate images depicting African-Americans from the post-Civil War era to the Civil Rights era for a doctoral thesis on the subject in the '80s.

Wittmann Militaria Update

"I was unprepared for the lack of empathy this topic would create," Mercier said. "The Blacks said these things had to be destroyed... I said, 'No, you can't go over history because you don't like it'."

Anti Hitler Antiques Spark Controversy Following Holiday Home Tour

Through his research, Mercier gained valuable insight into "how racial discrimination persisted and persisted" in America throughout the late 19th and first half of the 20th century.

Wittmann stands on the same side of the fence as Mercier. These are pieces of history, but the details behind that history are ugly.

Wittmann doesn't understand the mentality of those who vehemently oppose his collection: "The artifacts found here today, are we supposed to destroy them because you don't like that period of history?"

References to Nazism angered many people, essentially all members of the Jewish community, Mercier said, and that the word "Nazi" meant much more to them.

Vintage Militaria & War Memorabilia The Auction Barn

The Jewish community in Moorestown became sensitive after a series of events that began with a Jewish resident receiving a large letter from another resident, which then went viral. Partly in response to these events, the Anti-Defamation League held a meeting in Ballymore on Monday night.

However, Mercier believes that "we are really making a mountain out of a molehill by waving our finger over the Hitler cartoons in Wittmann's curiosity."

In fact, the United States, before and during World War II, had the Three Stooges' "You Nazty Spy!" For the Looney Tunes cartoon "Herr Meets Hare" starring Bugs Bunny and the classic Charlie Chaplin movie The Great Dicator.

Wittmann Militaria Update

Wittmann may not understand all the anxiety, but he learned long ago that there wasn't much he could do about it.

Within Short Notice - Do you need to quit your job at short notice but shudder at the thought of handing in your resignation? Are you paralyzed by the discomfort and discomfort of it all?

It could be that your workplace is understaffed, or that the turnover rate is high. There may be big project deadlines looming on the horizon with absolutely no one covering you. Or maybe your boss has a problem with abandonment.

Within Short Notice

Within Short Notice

Regardless of your situation with your employer, there is never a good time to resign. That's why a foolproof short-term termination letter is key to smoothing over potential problems and parting ways on good terms.

Short Notice Inviting Tender 2020

We will provide you with a large selection of ready-made examples of resignation letters that reflect the job market in 2023. You can use these word for word or adjust them here and there to better reflect your circumstances.

So fix your tea or coffee, sit back, close those ten YouTube tabs – and let's write.

Only the most difficult career people get all the answers right on the first try. Can you match their scores?

More Than 300 Seniors Forced From Homes On Short Notice

First come. There are some important steps you need to take before you formally quit your job. If you overlook this, even a Pulitzer-worthy resignation letter won't help you save face—or your career.

But if you have to leave in the short term without a plan B in place, make sure you have enough savings to see you through at least the next three to six months. Finding a new job can take a while, especially if you don't want to sell yourself cheap and accept the first offer that comes your way. The last thing you want is to end up in another disappointing job that you can't wait to quit before your trial period ends.

This step is especially important if you have a family to support or pay off loans or credits.

Within Short Notice

If you can, choose a slower period. This should help ease the transition and make it less stressful for everyone.

Partners In Travelling At Short Notice

Many people have packed a lot into their drawers or decorated their desk at the office. The last few weeks and days at work can be hectic enough as they are. Don't spend it on the size of box you need to fit your specialty pen collection, the twenty photos of your iguana, and the five soda bottles you've never even used.

To avoid all this stress, start removing and packing your personal belongings well in advance of announcing your departure. Also try to be discreet about it. Remove your items one or two at a time so as not to attract unnecessary attention.

Delete all personal files, emails and messages from your work phone and PC. Don't forget to save useful data or contact details that you'll need in the future – just make sure you're allowed to!

Dig out your employment contract and double check what the minimum notice period is. Most employers usually require two weeks notice, but this is not always the case.

Short Notice Period Resignation Letter

Also, familiarize yourself with your company's severance policy and the benefits you are entitled to. Also, be sure to research your continued health insurance and retirement plan as well as how you can collect unused vacation and sick leave.

Submitting a resignation letter doesn't mean you shouldn't talk to your boss or manager face-to-face. Request a one-on-one conversation before formally handing in your resignation.

At the meeting, be professional and polite – even if you have your reasons not to be. If there is any bad blood between the two of you, be the bigger person and avoid saying anything negative.

Within Short Notice

Start by telling your boss you're leaving and when your last day will be. However, you don't have to state your reasons for quitting if you don't want to. Then offer to help with the transition or train your replacement.

Parents Seek Answers After School Moves With Short Notice

This is also a good opportunity to discuss your future and prepare the groundwork for networking. Let your employer know what your next job is or what you are planning for your career. You may also want to ask for a reference.

If you find it useful, think of it as your "resignation" cover letter - the same general rules apply. Don't go over a page: keep it short, simple and to the point. Always stick to the standard format for business letters, choose a professional-looking font such as Arial or Times New Roman 12, and use high-quality letterhead.

➤What to include in a short resignation letter Here is what should be included in the letter from top to bottom:

Does all this sound like a handful? Don't worry - it's much easier than it seems. Let's go through each of these points in turn.

Employers Be Like: \

These are quite simple. Be sure to include your current contact information and your preferred method of communication. Also, be sure to include your personal email address, as your work email account will be deactivated soon.

If you draft your short-notice resignation letter a few days before the rejection, be sure to include the date of submission and not the date of writing.

It is good to write the month name in full to avoid confusion, ie "June" rather than "06".

Within Short Notice

Also, be sure to follow the standard formula depending on where your employer is based. In American English, the month comes first, so "February 7, 2023." The opposite is true for British English, where the month follows the day: "November 10, 2023."

The Street Railway Journal . One On Short Notice And At The Lowest Cost Consistent With The Best Workmanship. Bridgeport, Connecticut Successors To Peerless Electric Co.the Magnet Wire Co. New York

Nothing to discuss here either. Be sure to include the full name of your employer or company - it's a sign of respect and professionalism.

Use the standard formula "Dear [name]". It's fine to use the person's first name if that's how you usually address them. Depending on your workplace, the appropriate recipient of the letter may be your immediate supervisor or someone higher up the management chain.

Remember that in American English honorifics are emphasized, ie "Mr. Smith" or "Dr. Singh." On the other hand, the period is usually omitted in British English, i.e. "Ms Mueller" or "Prof Rossi."

Make sure the notice you give is consistent with your employment contract. However, this is not always possible. You may need to give less notice or no notice at all in situations such as a family or health emergency, or if you have been the victim of abuse or harassment at work.

Why Cancelling On Oral Proceedings On Short Notice Without Justification Is Considered A Violation Of The Epi Code Of Conduct

In that case, it is appropriate to leave your reasons at least partially. It can help you avoid potential conflicts with your employer or even legal or financial liability.

You should always apologize for quitting on short notice - it's the polite thing to do.

However, as mentioned above, as long as you provide the notice required by the agreement, you are not required to explain your reasons for leaving. Of course you can if you want.

Within Short Notice

In any case, don't let yourself go into too much detail. A single line on the page should be more than enough.

How To Spend Less When You're Moving On Short Notice

Then show empathy and understanding. Recognize that your notice of termination may mean that your boss and your colleagues will have to go through a rough patch. So please be kind and offer to help ease the transition. Examples include training your successor and taking on extra tasks during your last weeks or days.

Towards the end, remember to always thank your employer for the opportunities they have given you and everything you have learned on the job. Referring to something specific, like a particular project or skill, would be a nice extra touch, but you don't have to go that far if you don't really mean it.

Conclude this paragraph by wishing your employer and company success in their future endeavors. You can also mention that you would like to work together again in the future. It would set the stage for future networking opportunities and eliminate any awkwardness should your professional paths cross again.

Before closing, make sure you include your new contact information and a forwarding address for any documents or pay stubs. This is also a good place to indicate your preferred communication channel.

Sharing On Short Notice

Begin your farewell letter with the desired ending, such as "Best," "Regards," "Kind regards," or "Warm." In any case, it remains businesslike and formal. You can leave the more relaxed closing for your email.

Finally, write and sign your name by hand. It's best to use a quality pen and maybe practice your signature a few times if you haven't signed anything in a while.

Leave two to four blank lines below your signature. Then write "CC:" followed by the names and titles of everyone who will receive a copy of your resignation letter.

Within Short Notice

Keep your letter short and concise. You can mention the reasons for leaving, but do not elaborate on the future. Don't discuss your retirement plans

Wittman Military Antiques - Every time people come back from a show, there are many factors to consider to accurately answer the question, “How was it?”: the sales opportunity; price product variety; Attendance Parking and even food. Instead of crossing off that list, say, "That's great!" I simply replied and avoided the conversation. When the man came to me

Every show promoter promises the Ohio Valley Military Society (OVMS), which organizes The Show Show (SOS), will be "bigger this year than ever." For many years, SOS was held in a large room at the Kentucky Exposition Center. After years of negotiation and pleading, the OVMS board finally granted permission for an expanded hall. Why is this important?

Millennials Don't Want Heavy Antiques, Brown Furniture; They Crave 'mad Men' Era Stuff

Unlike any other military or historic vehicle show in the United States, There are not enough tables for all the dealers who want to exhibit at the show. The waiting list for a table is long. It's an all-too-familiar scene for Wisconsinites waiting for Packer tickets: Not enough seats for Lambeau -- every game is sold out.

Ok Popularity is a good thing. However, the OVMS board realized that a larger venue would benefit the hobby as well as the show's health. Several meetings were held over the years before the Kentucky Exposition Center finally agreed to expand the site. This year, 1,965 tables were canceled at the last minute, but some were taken. By waiting on a list of vendors who want tables, OVMS can fully guarantee showings.

Alex Cranmer of the IMA has a large area filled with exotic military equipment and artillery. Here, Staff member Chris shares the details with our principal, Nick Ockwig. If you missed the IMA presentation at the show, watch it online at www.ima-usa.com.

But change is not without fear. Do you know how tough military recruiters are? If they lived in the same place 10 years ago. Relocation for hobby or OVMS advancement will not be accepted.

Loetz Octopus Vase, Pn Unknown, Wittmann & Roth Commission, Ca. 1887

With tact, OVMS does not attempt to simply insert tables into the wing. They know it's thought out for the original theme. Instead, they redesigned it.

The living room is actually perpendicular to the tables that run the way they did. No one is in the same position. Each supplier location is new.

Not only does this eliminate complaints from sales reps (you know...they wear the same clothes to show off their expensive jewels year after year); It provides discovery for everyone. Best of all, the show doesn't look bad. Sure, Some tables were farther from the front door, so dealers had to install coolers that were a little longer than others, but customers didn't overlook a single spot at the show. Every corner is full of premium dealers and tables. For new people, It is not clear which areas are the "old guard" and which are the latecomers. OVMS did a great job rearranging the table positions, and quality is to be found throughout the show...not just in the "Frontroom".

A collector friend asked, “How is the price? High or low?” “Yes,” he replied, “they are high; '” After getting a few unnecessary profanities out of my system. He was able to answer his question with a little more thought. "It depends on what!" Good things come at a high price. Low-end products - if the dealer understands normal business practices - are priced very low. "Saturday It's no secret that many weekend sales reps (even full-time military products professionals) are finally admitting that military product prices go up and down in the economy.

The bigger venue opens up possibilities for a variety of material, but SOS has always had a reputation as primarily a "20th century military" show, and whatever happens in 2013 isn't going to change that perception. Some of my purchases are good Civil War items though. I still have to search for M35 helmets and Doughboy uniforms to find them. This should not be taken as criticism.

All aspects of the military hobby overlap. Attracting different audiences to a given space is difficult. However, With all the "20th Century Military Show" talk; I will admit that the coolest items I bought at the gallery included an 1812 war original paint canteen and ca. US Infantry 1820 Silver Armor Cuirass That's the beauty of SOS. I expected to find just one, only to find 20 things I didn't think were possible.

While I don't expect SOS to live up to its reputation as a premier Civil War or Roman antiquities exhibit in the near future, SOS does host an extensive military display that makes it unique and purely entertaining. I don't think any other show has given me such a hopeful discovery.

Igor Moiseyev of Atlantic Crossroads Inc is my "go to" for Soviet medals and awards. Most people know his website: http://collectrussia.com/

SOS is really trying to reach a wider audience by inviting veterans to sign autographs and share their experiences. It aims to attract the public with some historic military vehicles (roughly half original, half similar). A step outside the living room. A long line (about 20,000 passengers!) was waiting to enter the National Firearms Day Show at one time. But a lot of data doesn't necessarily translate into sales.

In general, My observation about the average SOS attendee is: If someone pays to attend SOS; The possibility of spending money on the show is very high. Very few "casual" visitors. SOS remains one of the largest groups of arms dealers and buyers. You set up or join SOS.

In fact, SOS is a "congress" and not a "show". It promises a high concentration of professional collectors and dealers. While OVMS can increase their revenues by opening their exhibitions to a wider clientele, SOS is more interested in providing a greater service to enthusiasts by focusing on active collectors and dealers. For this, they support our hobby a lot.

SOS is stored in a consistent location. Louisville is located in the heart of America. Even for people on both coasts, knowing that the show will be in Louisville allows them to be on a budget. The Kentucky Expo Center is adjacent to the airport and surrounded by hotels and restaurants. This is the perfect place in my opinion (I drove 12 hours to get there!).

Don Smith and his father run a large business. Don specializes in 1st Special Forces material and has conducted extensive interviews with FSSF veterans.

Now, The most popular part of the SOS Action report is always: the food. You can't fail to salute the Kentucky pork producers who have booths outside the show entrance. Their boneless pork sandwich and pulled pork platter got me through the day of the show. There are plenty of food vendors inside the show grounds, so no one goes hungry.

But what about after you quit? I'm still saddened by the passing of my favorite Louisville BBQ spot, The Hickory House. last year I was about to load the freezer full of pork chops to find that the Hickory House windows were covered with brown paper and well sealed. Last year I struggled and ate a mix of Baconaters at the famous Dave's and Wendy's - a menu that can be replicated almost anywhere.

Clarity and consistency are the building blocks of great content. If your text is clear, concise and easy to understand, your audience will leave a positive impression on your website. Unfortunately, many brands abandon style guidelines and choose to abandon it. While not a fatal flaw by any means, it often leads to content that looks sloppy. Without guidelines to ensure consistency, it's easy for your content to wander without a comma and in a format that doesn't follow any clear logic. The result is that your blog or website looks at the basic conventions of Wild West grammar. If that sounds like a stretch, consider this: Newspapers are written to be easy to read. Concise writing and a consistent style go a long way toward achieving this goal. There's a reason your daily paper sounds like this; It is designed to be efficient. Does your content have to be perfect to be effective? Not close, no. But anything you can do to ensure consistency and clarity will help your cause. Here's a cheat sheet based on the updated 2022-2024 edition of the Associated Press Stylebook.

The tip of this dagger is in very good condition with some wear to the top edge, most of the plate still intact. The standing oak leaves and acorns are very detailed with a nice black background. The tip of the dagger is personalized with a matching H W monogram, possibly the initials of the officer who owned the dagger.

The crossguard retains much of the silver and has some bubbly patination under the coating. The distinctive WKC eagle details are still present on the mobile's head, breast and wings, claw and wreath.

The blade of this dagger definitely shows age and has oxidized to a gray patina over most of the surface, including the engraving area. We see no evidence that this engraving is recent. The last inch of the blade near the cross guard is not as oxidized as the rest and still shows the final factory grind line. The protective case has the original leather blade buffer washer.
